Bioware teases more Mass Effect games ? Video Games Reviews ...

Mass Effect 3

More Mass Effect games are in store for the future, if hints dropped by ME3 associate producer Mike Gamble are any indication.

Gamble hinted that it wouldn?t be a bad idea to preserve one?s Mass Effect 3 savegames for posterity in an interview with a gaming blog called GamerZines. ?Obviously I can?t say anything,? Gamble teased ? meaning he is saying something ? before repeating that it?s a good idea to save the savegames.

Mass Effect 2 and ME3 both use saved game files from the previous chapters in the trilogy to impact newer games and modify the plots, meaning that a player?s rash decision in ME1 can come back to haunt them in 2 or 3.

Gamble added that game outcomes have to be ?satisfying? to the player, regardless of whether they?re happy or sad. He stressed that players should understand the consequences of their choices across the franchise.

The Mass Effect 3 demo lands on Valentine?s Day in advance of the full release on March 6 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Blake?s Opinion

Of course Mass Effect 4 is coming!

Let?s not forget that while Bioware started the Mass Effect franchise as an independent studio, over the course of three games the studio became an EA subsidiary.

When EA knows it?s on to a good thing, it tends not to let go. Over the many franchises of good IP that were either launched or rebooted over the last five years ? Mirror?s Edge and Medal of Honor come to mind ? Mass Effect is one of the few that?s gone on to become a sure hit.

ME3 may mark the end of the Shepard saga, but Bioware?s many talented writers surely have a lot more of the universe left to bring to life. Expect a Mass Effect 4, or a prequel, or a spin-off, or DLC, or something to be announced before long.
